Srinagar, (SANA): In Indian Occupied Kashmir, APHC (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Muhammad Yasin Malik have felicitated the people and the government of Pakistan on the eve of their Independence Day, today 15 Aug (Wednesday).

Hurriyet leaders in their messages in Srinagar said that the Pakistani government and people had always supported the Kashmiris, who were engaged in a just liberation struggle. They prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country and maintained that a strong Pakistan was imperative for the success of Kashmir movement. Liberation leaders Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Yasmeen Raja, Farooq Ahmed Dar and Javed Ahmed Mir also greeted the Pakistanis on the Day.

On the other hand, India’s Independence Day on Wednesday will be observed as Black Day by the Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and all across the world. The leaders of APHC and other pro-liberation organisations have said that the observance of the Day is meant to convey to the world that the Kashmiris totally reject Indian illegal occupation over the territory.

The Chief Patron of Jammu and Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi, Muhammad Azam Inqilabi in a statement appealed to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, to take steps for implementation of the 13th August 1948 resolution of the World Body on Kashmir.

The Jamaat-e-Islami of Indian Occupied Kashmir has elected Muhammad Abdullah Wani as its new Amir. He will replace Sheikh Muhammad Hassan.

Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have deployed Indian police and troops in strength in Srinagar and all major towns in view of India’s Independence Day on Wednesday. The troops and police personnel are conducting surprise checking and subjecting the people to thorough frisking.

Kashmiris in UK to mark India’s Independence Day as black day

London - The Kashmir Centre London has said that the British Kashmiris will observe India’s Independence Day on the 15th August as Black Day. Kashmir Centre London Executive Director Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl said in a statement that a peaceful demonstration would be held outside the Indian High Commission at Aldwych London on the day.

He said that, on the occasion, a memorandum would also be delivered to the Indian High Commission for the prime minister of India regarding the ongoing human rights violations taking place in the occupied territory.

“The day is observed as a black day because India, despite the promises and commitments from its leaders, is not allowing the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination for choosing a political future of their choice,” he said.
Professor Shawl deplored that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world but was denying all basic rights and fundamental freedoms in occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan has marked victory in International Cyber Drill Competition, the competition was based on tricks and techniques regarding ” Cyber Security and how to secure systems from hackers and hack attacks”. Pakistan took part in the drill for the first time and beaten experts from 28 other countries

LAHORE – IFTIKHAR ALAM - For the first time in the country’s history an eight member team of computer experts has participated in an international cyber drill and completed all the tasks successfully, various social websites and blogs reported here on Wednesday.

The Pakistani team won the competition held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, where 25 teams of experts from 20 countries participated, it was informed. The Pakistani team comprised four members of Pakistan Information Security Association and four students of National University of Science and Technology.

The event was organised by the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT). The annual drill was held to test the response capability of leading Computer Security Incident Response Teams from Asia Pacific economies.

It was the first time that APCERT involved the participation from the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) in the annual drill, following a Memorandum of Understanding on collaboration signed in September, 2011.

The theme of the APCERT Drill 2012 was “Advance Persistent Threats and Global Coordination”.

The objective was for participating teams to exercise incident response handling arrangements locally and internationally to mitigate the impact of advance persistent threats that involved large scale malicious software propagation and attacks capable of impairing the critical infrastructure and economic activities. The main focus of the event was to educate the participants, who were given specific task to complete them within a time limit.

The exercise reflected a strong collaboration amongst the economies, and it also enhanced the communication protocols, technical capabilities and quality of incident responses for assuring Internet security and safety. About 22 CSIRT teams from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, People’s Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Tunisia, Egypt and Pakistan participated in the drill.
