Let's wear the best clothes, not new clothes this Eid

Say no to #NoToEidShopping this year

Instead

- Feed a Family
- Pay someone's school fee
- Help someone restart business
- Pay someone's rent

Let's celebrate true #SpiritOfRamzan

When you look at below chart, you can see why the world is full of poverty. Only 2 out of the top 20 billionaires in the world are paying the equivalent of the Zakah!

Why+the+world+is+full+of+poverty.+Why+Zakat+is+one+of+the+Piller+of+Islam.jpg

People try to blame the Creator for injustice and hunger, when we can only blame the selective greed of some humans where wealth is concentrated, as Allah said in His book regarding the wisdom of giving Zakah "كي لَا يَكُوۡنَ دُوۡلَةًۢ بَيۡنَ الۡاَغۡنِيَآءِ مِنۡكُمۡ so that money would not be exclusive with the rich among you," (Surat Alhashr 59:7).

Now imagine only these 20 people paid the Zakah 2.5%, that would be 25 billion. Now calculate this for the entire population of the US, and you will get approximately 375 billion, and divide that over 10 million poor people, and each person gets approximately $3,125 dollars a month!

You might say, why would these rich people bother? When there is less poverty, there is more productivity and less crime, which makes a society more prosperous and happier overall, thus everyone is a winner at the end!

May Allah make us from those who honour the 3rd pillar of Islam, and make us prosperous in this life so we may give more, and in the after with lots of Hasanat. Ameen!

What is Zakat
Zakat is the third of the five Pillar of Islam. Zakat does not refer to charitable gifts given out of kindness or generosity, but to the systematic giving of 2.5% of one's wealth each year to benefit the poor. Zakat must be calculated on the following assets: gold, silver, cash, savings, investments, rental income, business merchandise and profits, shares, securities, and bonds etc. Zakat is not paid on wealth used for living expenses such as clothing, food, housing, transportation, education, etc.

In Arabic, the word zakat means purification, growth, and blessing. Paying zakat is meant to serve as a reminder to be appreciative of the blessings that Allah (SWT) has given, while empowering those who have less.
